Long Beach Medical Center is pleased to offer a variety of diagnostic services and therapeutic treatments using a wide range of imaging technology and modalities. In addition, we offer interventional radiology which benefits patients with a minimally invasive approach to care with better outcomes and reduced stress on the patient.
Toshiba's Aquilion ONE Dynamic Volume CT System
Commonly referred to as a 320 slice CT, the Aquilon One is a computed technologic device that utilizes 320 ultra-high-resolution detector rows (0.5 mm in width) to image an entire organ in a single gantry rotation. This technology allows physicians to detect and treat life-threatening diseases at their earliest stages since it produces such clear imagery in a short amount of time.
Interventional Radiology
Interventional (IR) is the use of image guidance to perform minimally invasive procedures for diagnostics and treatments. Long Beach Medical Center offers leading interventional radiology procedures and treatments within many specialties.
Interventional radiologists use imaging techniques such as , magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) , , computed tomography (CT) and to navigate small instruments, such as catheters and needles, through blood vessels and organs to treat a variety of diseases. Interventional radiology diagnoses and treats patients using the least invasive techniques available to minimize risk to patients and improve health outcomes. Most IR patients are sent home the same day and normal activity is resumed within a week or two.
Benefits of Interventional Radiology
- Minimally invasive treatment
- Less blood loss
- Nearly all procedures are outpatient, meaning patients can go home the same day
- Less pain and faster recovery time, meaning smaller incisions reducing the risk of infection or other conditions

Meet Our Team
Hospital-Based Imaging
Each MemorialCare hospital provides the broadest range of routine and advanced diagnostic outpatient imaging services, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment in patient-friendly environments. In addition, services include image-guided biopsy capabilities, a wide range of interventional radiology procedures, fluoroscopy and therapeutic treatments including radioisotope therapies. Each hospital-based imaging department is staffed with board-certified radiologists with modality sub-specialization, providing the highest level of care.
Radiology Experts
We offer radiological excellence in imaging services, with a team of physicians and technicians who have specialized training and licensure in numerous radiological procedures.
Digital Images
Digital imaging systems, such as Picture Archival Communications System (PACS) and DR Systems, allows radiology images and reports to be examined digitally as soon as they are captured. With this technology, images and reports are available to physicians for viewing right away, either here in the hospital or in the physician's own office. The result for our patients is a timely turnaround of high-quality images, eliminating the need for time-consuming and cumbersome films.
