About Me

William G. Preston, M.D. is a native of California, receiving his B.A. cum laude from Stanford University. He graduated from the University of Southern California School of Medicine, completing his post-graduate training at the LAC/USC Medical Center in General Medicine and Neurology. He has since continued his academic affiliations, acting as Associate Clinical Professor of Neurology at UCI School of Medicine, recently honored with the UCI Department of Neurology Outstanding Clinical Faculty award.

Dr. Preston is Board Certified by the American Board of Neurology and Psychiatry, and has been elected Fellow by the American Academy of Neurology. He is an active member of the American Society of Neuroimaging, currently acting as its treasurer and sitting on its Executive Board of Directors; he is certified in MRI and CT interpretation by that Society. He is immediate past chairman of the Neuroimaging Section of the American Academy of Neurology and is immediate past president of the California Neurology Society. Dr. Preston also holds current membership in the American Medical Association.

Locally, Dr. Preston is past President of the Orange County Neurological Society and has held offices and positions at regional hospitals in Orange County: Chairman of the Department of Neurology at Hoag Hospital, Newport Beach, California; Vice Chief of Staff at Saddleback Memorial Medical Center, Laguna Hills, California. Dr. Preston is active in clinical research, serving as principal investigator for studies dealing with various neurological illnesses and conditions: memory loss, stroke, Parkinson's Disease, MS and post-herpetic neuralgia. He is a graduate of the Palatucci Advocacy Leadership Forum, sponsored by the American Academy of Neurology, and was chosen in 2006 as AAN Advocate of the Year.

Dr. Preston enjoys hiking, golf, and tennis and is an amateur paleontologist. He has four children (three grown) and lives with his wife and youngest son in Orange County. He is currently in his 35th year of private neurological practice in Laguna Hills with the Saddleback Valley Neuroscience Medical Group.
