Wernher Ovalle, MD

Wernher Ovalle, MD is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician who has been in private practice since 1999. “I grew up in New Jersey but spent my young adulthood in Scottsdale Arizona,” he says. “When I came out to undergraduate school at Loyola Marymount University, I met my wife and ended up taking residence in sunny Southern California.”

Dr. Ovalle’s interest in medicine only grew as he attended medical school. “I studied at the #1 rated program in the U.S. for primary preventive healthcare and learned early on the incredible value of good primary care,” he says. “It combines knowing the very latest research and having proper empathy and bedside manner to make a collaborative relationship successful in the exam room. My love for all aspects of medicine and my appreciation of personal interaction with patients made internal medicine a natural choice for me.”

It is important to Dr. Ovalle that patients know that they are going to be heard and treated with respect and compassion in his exam room. “I am a big proponent of patient sovereignty. My job is to keep my patients informed but in the end, they have the right to make decisions regarding their own health care and what health interventions we choose to utilize.”

Dr. Ovalle says that having been married for 30 years and with three boys, most of his spare time is spent enjoying his family. “I also enjoy writing and have played piano since a young age,” he adds.
