About
Obstetrics and Gynecology is an amazing field of medicine which allows doctor and patient to grow through many stages of life, from an adolescent going through puberty to the young adult building a family and to older adults reaching menopause. Over the years, Dr. Tanamai has enjoyed working with women as they journey through these different stages in their lives. Her aim is to build relationships with her patients and accompany them step by step in understanding their body as they move through these stages and to keep them healthy!
Dr. Tanamai graduated from the University of California at Irvine with a degree in both Biological Sciences – Genetics and Biomedical Engineering. Following graduation, she continued her research in developing optical imaging technologies in breast cancer at the Beckman Laser Institute at the University of California at Irvine campus. Dr. Tanamai’s work with breast cancer patients helped her realize that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine, so she moved across the country to Buffalo, New York where she completed her Medical degree at State University of New York at Buffalo. To further her skills in obstetrics and gynecology, she completed a residency (affiliated with Yale University and University of Vermont) at Danbury Hospital, a community hospital in Connecticut. She worked at Kaiser Permanente Northern California for 2 years.
She love’s cooking, especially Thai food. She also enjoys swimming, hiking, knitting, and crocheting.

This was my first time meeting Dr. Tanamai, but we researched a new doctor for several days before picking her. She was everything that we hoped and needed her to be, kind, patient, competent, funny, encouraging and so very human. She had a patient in active labor but they fit me in for baby check-up because I'd been in ER the previous night. Although she needed to check on her active labor patient, she never once made me feel rushed or less important. When she with me she was present and took her time explaining every single detail of my ultrasound. Baby Bean was okay and although its too early to hear heartbeat she was able to show me baby heart beating and measure! We have our previously scheduled 1st trimester check-up on the 29th, but she went ahead and scheduled my bloodwork and vitals since I was already in office so when we meet again we'll have yesterday's ultrasound as comparison for how well baby is progressing and will have a protocol in place per my bloodwork results will already be in-hand. We just switched from Kaiser to United Healthcare and this experience has been complete opposite of what we've gone through with Kaiser doctors. We've been ttc for three years and were told that we couldn't do it naturally because were in early 40's. One doctor to us when you put eggs in the refrigerator for 40 years you can't eat them anymore....WTH!!! Well, January 1st 2024, we found out we're pregnant, on our own!!! Its like my body was waiting for the new insurance plan so we could partner with a good doctor, and most importantly have a positive experience regardless the outcome, because having a baby, while stressful, should be a happy experience. After meeting Dr. Tanamai and her attentively warm office warriors in person yesterday, I believe our prayers have been answered in more ways than one!

They have one nurse taking notes, and the doctor makes eye contact and listens. She did a good job doing both.

Also my HRT Rx wasn’t handed to me. And the actual office doesn’t take telephone calls, there is an intermediary who picks up w limited information. Otherwise it was a fair experience and no wait to see the doc.

I had the pleasure of being under the care of Dr Tanamai during my pregnancy. Before establishing care, I did my homework & searched high & low on doctors in the area. I was very picky & what really made me choose Dr. Tanamai was how she mentioned in her memorialcare video how child birth is a natural process & she doesn't do anything magical on her end, & acts more like a coach on the sidelines. I liked how she humble she comes across on her video. I do not like doctors usually, but during my 9 month span & all the appointments, I can say she really listened to my needs. I can be a bit of a diva but she never made me feel unheard or weird for my preferences. She also never pressured me into anything, because I stood my ground on certain practices & I ended up getting my way which I appreciated - & I didn't have to fight for it either. I was very disappointed in the fact she couldn't deliver my baby - since he came after her working hours Friday (after midnight). My only complaint & maybe if she reads this review, is the next baby I would like to put a special request to deliver baby #2 whenever that may happen. I will never forget one appointment where she was more chatty than usual & I really liked that - it felt like I was talking to an old friend. We were talking non medical & it was very refreshing. I wish every appointment could of been like that but I understand the l&d field is very chaotic. I would recommend Dr. Tanamai to anyone looking to establish care for pregnancy or for an obgyn.

Made me contact my insurance the day of surgery to see if it was covered instead of doing it during my surgery, they’re literally sitting at a desk that is there job, And the receptionist were super rude, judgy, and didn’t want to help at all. Honestly on a day I was nervous for the surgery and this made it 1000x worse.
