About
A native Californian, Dr. Appleby was born in Mountain View, a community near Palo Alto and the Stanford area. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Santa Clara University, he attended Medical School at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. Returning to California, Dr. Appleby completed his Internship and Residency training in Internal Medicine at UCI Medical Center in Orange, through the University of California Irvine. He then went on to complete a three year Fellowship in Cardiology and an additional year Fellowship specializing in Interventional Cardiology also at UCIMC.
Dr. Appleby has been on staff at Long Beach Memorial since 2010 and he is the co-author of numerous articles on cardiac-related conditions.

I would like to speak about my experience with this office. I have a lot of things going on healthwise and I'm a very anxious person. From the moment that I made that first initial contact it was Very calming I say this, because the young woman that I spoke to on the phone made me welcomed. From the moment, she answered my phone call my anxious self started telling her everything that was wrong with me. She just listened with no interruptions when I was through she asked me. May I have your name and your date of birth? I apologized profusely because I told her my whole life story before giving her my contact information. She was able to bring my information up right away,with every step of the way she let me know what she was doing and apologized for silence when she was while checking my information . She was very thorough and an absolute pleasure to speak with. I was able to get scheduled. It was a little far out, but she said I could call back as many times as I needed to see if there is a sooner available appointment, which was very nice as I'm an anxious person as I said before, and it made me feel better that I could do this to see if I can get in sooner. I'd like to say Thank you to Debbie for making my initial contact with this office and absolute pleasure. It told me a lot of what kind of people that will be taking care of me and my health. Dr. Appleby is an excellent physician. He is thorough, recommends necessary tests (even for Medicare patients which can be rare) when warranted and follows up. He is knowledgeable of patient history and well prepared when he enters the exam room. He doesn’t rush the appointment answering all questions, but he is efficient and professional so doesn’t waste time either. And one of my favorite things about Dr. Appleby is his quick wit and sense of humor, which can appropriately de-stress a serious topic. Dr. Appleby is the best!

No issues with Doctor Appleby, he answered my questions and concerns. BUT there's a major issue with assistant in regards to refilling my prescriptions, she didn't have a clue or knowledge on handling Express Scripts and did not get any office support and I ended calling Express Scripts for more information that was never detailed by the assistant on what she needed for my refills. I had to leave the office in order to get cell service which may by an issue in an emergency. So, now I'm playing the waiting game for my refills.

Heartless wording and bedside manor when my 21 year old son overdosed. He was abrupt and really didn't show much empathy or compassion. He was inattentive to his condition. Yes, I fully known the difference I am an RN as well and have worked with hundreds of doctors. This was 8 years ago and it still sits with me. I am kinda surprised by the review maybe he just treats people suffering with the disease of addiction poorly. I hope he does better now. I lost my son a few days later.
