About
Sarah Hassan, MD joined the OC Blood & Cancer Care team in 2018. Originally from Chicago, she is excited to call Orange County her new home.
Before she began residency, Dr. Hassan worked as a research associate at the University of Illinois Department of Surgery in Chicago. While assisting with Islet Cell Transplant for Type 1 Brittle Diabetics, she discovered an interest in immunology, molecular biology, and progressive treatment options that aim to cure presumed incurable diseases. This experience greatly influenced her decision to pursue work in cancer treatments.
Dr. Hassan completed her Internal Medicine residency at St Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio in 2015. She completed her fellowship in Hematology/Oncology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in 2018. She is triple board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, and Medical Oncology.
Dr. Hassan supports Integrative Medicine and although she enjoys working with all patients, she is most interested in treating breast cancer. She strongly values patient autonomy and personalized medicine. Her goal is to provide empathetic care and dignity to every patient she treats.
In her free time Dr. Hassan loves to hike, spend time at the beach, travel, learn different languages, and appreciate art. She is fluent in Urdu and understands basic Polish and Spanish.

There are so many emotions that I feel as I need to realize that I have cancer. It's an indolent type of cancer, but nonetheless it's cancer.
Dr Hassan offers both my husband and I a comforting, understanding and caring perspective that both of us need as each of us has different feelings about this overwhelming journey we will face together.
We are so grateful and feel extremely blessed to have her as our tour guide through these experiences we will face. We feel we aren't alone and can ask her anything without feeling rushed or that our questions are unnecessary.
