Dr. Kim is committed to applying his expertise to bring the benefits of these approaches to patients with even highly complex urologic problems.

Dr. Kim grew up in San Francisco and attended prestigious Lowell High School. He graduated with honors from University of California, Berkeley with a major in biochemistry. His interest in medicine and biomedical research led him to University of California, San Francisco, where he earned his combined M.D. and Ph.D. degrees through the highly selective Medical Scientist Training Program. His research efforts in cancer biology led to several peer reviewed publications and awards at national meetings.

Dr. Kim completed his urology residency at the Scott Department of Urology at Baylor College of Medicine, located in the heart of Houston's world-renowned medical center. As a resident, he was already at the forefront of minimally invasive technologies. In 2007, Dr. Kim helped launch the da Vinci robotics program at the Michael E. Debakey Veterans Administration Medical Center and performed their first robotic prostate and kidney surgeries. Dr. Kim completed his fellowship in robotics and minimally invasive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, a highly specialized referral center. There he gained expertise and nuance in treating complex urologic diseases with minimally invasive techniques.
