About Me
Maged A. Tanios, M.D., M.P.H serves as the immediate past Chief of Staff at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine and Sleep Medicine and has been practicing in Long Beach since 2004.
After receiving his medical degree from Alexandria University School of Medicine in Alexandria, Egypt, he completed his internal medicine residency training at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. After residency, Dr. Tanios completed two fellowships – one in Pulmonology & Critical Care Medicine, the later in Sleep Medicine - where he was Associate Director of the Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Tufts University School of Medicine. He served as Assistant Professor of Medicine and received his master’s degree in Health Management and Policy at Tufts Medical School.
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Tanios has leadership roles in health care administration, academics and health care quality. He serves as the medical director, Adult Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU); medical director, Adult Critical Care Intensivist Program; and previously serviced as medical director, Internal Medicine at Long Beach Medical Center. He was an active member of the MemorialCare Academic Advisory Board and currently services on the Board of Trustees for Long Beach Medical Center.
Dr. Tanios is a prolific author and recipient of multiple awards and grants, including recognition from American Lung Association (ALA), funding from National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is an expert medical reviewer for the Medical Board of California.
His many honors include recognition among the America’s Best Physicians (2016); the UCI Department of Internal Medicine Attending Physician of the Year; International Association of Healthcare Professionals Top Pulmonologists; and the Memorial Medical Center Foundation Munzer Family Aware for Excellence in Education and Research.
Dr. Tanios enjoys living the Southern California lifestyle – outdoor athletics, ocean views, community activities - with his wife and two children.
