About Me
Dr. K. Lauren de Winter is board-certified, fellowship trained urogynecologist who specializes in Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgeon (FPMRS) with Praxis Urogynecology in Long Beach.
Her clinical interests include the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, fecal incontinence, recurrent urinary tract infections, chronic pelvic pain, urogenital fistula, and interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome.
She received her medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) from the Harvard Medical School Partner’s program through Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She then completed an additional three-year fellowship in Urogynecology (female pelvic medicine & reconstructive surgery (FPMRS)) at the University of New Mexico Health Services Center.
In her practice, Dr. de Winter advocates for collaboration with her patients with a focus on patient education and individualized care. She performs minimally invasive procedures for prolapse and incontinence. This includes procedures for prolapse repair that avoid hysterectomy for patients who want to avoid the removal of their uterus.
Dr. de Winter has given numerous national, international presentations nationally on fistula repair, menopause, urinary incontinence, and gender bias in surgery. Her fellowship thesis the treatment of stress urinary incontinence received the best paper award when presented at the AUGS PFD Week national meeting. She is a member of an international writing group for bladder pain syndrome, volunteers as a reviewer for three academic journals, has published numerous peer-reviewed articles on pelvic floor disorders, and continues to author academic papers.
