About

Jonathan B. Blitzer, M.D. is a board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist at the MemorialCare Todd Cancer Institute at Long Beach Medical Center.

After completing his training at State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University, Dr. Blitzer joined the faculty of University of California, Irvine (UCI), stationed at the Long Beach VA. Leaving academic medicine in 1988, he had a community practice for thirty years before joining TCI in 2018.  He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, and Hematology/Medical Oncology. He is an Associate Clinical Professor for the Division of Hematology & Oncology at the University of California, Irvine. 

Dr. Blitzer has also served the Long Beach community in the nonprofit sector, on the boards of Westerly School and New Hope Grief Support.

In his free time, Dr. Blitzer enjoys outdoor recreation, sailing, theatre, and traveling with his wife Carole. 

Fun Fact: both his wife and daughter are also doctors!
