Dr. Wachs is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).
Dr. Barton Wachs received his medical degree from the University of California at Irvine. His residency training included general surgery, anesthesia, and urology training. His urology residency was completed at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
In addition to his private practice, Dr. Wachs also served as the Physician Leader for the Department of Urology at Long Beach Memorial, a Clinical Instructor at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, and a consulting Neuro-Urologist for Spinal Cord Services at Long Beach Memorial Hospital.
Dr. Wachs is an active member of the Impotence Institute of America, the Society of Reproductive Surgeons, the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons, the Los Angeles Urologic Association, and the Western Section of the American Urological Association.
In his belief of providing patients with the education and support they in order need to deal with their condition Dr. Wachs is involved with many informational support groups. He works with the California Prostate Cancer Coalition, he is a Director of Us Too, Prostate Cancer Support Groups as well as the Long Beach Chapter of Impotence Anonymous. He was the recipient of the Physician Recognition Award presented by the American Medical Association, the Prostate Cancer Educator of the Year award presented by the America Federation of Urologic Diseases and the Humanitarian Award presented by Long Beach Memorial Medical Center. Most recently, Dr. Wachs was named to Who's Who Among Physicians and was rated as a "Top Doctor" in Consumer Publication's 1999 Guide to 15,000 Top Rated Physicians in Metropolitan Areas.
He is frequently requested to make presentation to both professional and lay groups on various urological topics. Dr. Wachs has authored a number of publications for professional journals.
