About Me
Dr. Azad Paul Kurkjian is a board-certified adult and child psychiatrist specializing in neuropsychiatry. He provides psychiatric care to pediatric patients at Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach.
Dr. Kurkjian completed his undergraduate degree in psychology with an emphasis in biopsychology and a minor in biology from the University of California, San Diego in 2000. Dr. Kurkjian received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. He completed his residency in adult psychiatry at the San Fernando Valley Residency Program at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his fellowship in adolescent psychiatry at Cedars – Sinai Medical Center, where he served as chief fellow.
Dr. Kurkjian’s clinical interests include mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders.
Dr. Kurkjian works predominantly with Spanish-speaking families through the Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program at El Centro Del Pueblo and through the Outpatient Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Program at The Children’s Clinic. He also serves as the chief psychiatrist for students at Occidental College.
