About Me
Ashish M. Shah, D.O. is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist and cardiologist. He specializes in ablation therapy for arrythmia including atrial fibrillation (AFib), ventricular tachycardia (VT or v-tach) and supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and is at the forefront of his practice performing fluoroless ablation, left atrial appendage closure, i.e., WATCHMAN, His bundle-pacing, laser-lead extraction and leadless pacemaker implantations (Micra), in addition to standard treatments and therapies within cardiology and electrophysiology. He has authored published papers in medical journals on the treatment of AFib and coronary disease.
Dr. Shah was born and raised in central Illinois and earned his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in the greater Chicago area. Following his residency, he moved to the northeast where he went on to complete fellowships at Deborah Heart and Lung Center as well as Lankenau Medical Center specializing in cardiology and electrophysiology, Dr. Shah's last fellowship in electrophysiology was at the Newark Beth Israel Medical Center/Saint Barnabas Medical Center/Robert Wood Johnson University, home of one of the largest heart transplant programs in the United States.
Dr. Shah's philosophy is to treat the entire person rather than an individual disease. His patients find that he is approachable, thorough, has a calm demeanor and appreciate the time he spends with them; educating them on their condition and treatment options. Dr. Shah feels strongly that educating his patients helps them become better decision-makers in optimizing their care.
Dr. Shah speaks Spanish, Gujarati, Hindi and when he's not treating hearts he enjoys spending time with family, traveling, singing and dancing. He is happy to call California his home and joined South Orange County Cardiology Group in 2018.
