Dr. Alvin Y. Chan is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon with Orthopaedic Specialty Institute in Orange, CA. 

His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, skull base tumors, pituitary tumors, aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, deep brain stimulation, cranial and spine trauma, radiosurgery, trigeminal neuralgia, malignant and benign tumors of the brain and spine. 

Dr. Chan earned his medical degree from Medical College of Wisconsin in Madison and residency in neurosurgery at UC Irvine School of Medicine where he served as chief resident. He then completed fellowship training in skull base & cerebrovascular surgery under Frank P. Hsu, MD, PhD., Professor and Denny & Betty Tsai Endowed Chair, Department of Neurological Surgery, UC Irvine School of Medicine. 

He is well published with over 70 journal articles and book chapters focused mainly on spine research, functional neurosurgery, and socioeconomic topics in neurosurgery. 

Outside of his professional life, he values time with his wife and their three children, as well as pursuing his interests in sports, the ocean and travel.
