MemorialCare Medical Group and Greater Newport Physicians have once again been named “Top-Performing Medical Groups” for providing the highest quality of care and service by SCAN Health Plan.
The announcement came on November 29, 2017. SCAN Health Plan is one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, and each year recognizes top performing medical groups based on service and SCAN’s internal quality metrics.
SCAN’s internal quality metrics include a focus on preventive screenings, treatment of chronic conditions and appropriate documentation to ensure members get the care they need to stay healthy and independent. These metrics are similar to those used by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) in its Star Rating System, which weighs such factors as clinical outcomes, managing chronic conditions, preventive care and consumer satisfaction when determining a Star rating for each Medicare Advantage plan in the nation. SCAN’s quality metrics are not reviewed by Medicare.
